Description
A beautifully aged c.1920s terrestrial globe by renowned British cartographer, George Phillip & Son Ltd.
A rare ‘Business’ model produced for the News of the World newspaper, which ran from 1843 until its closure in 2011 amidst a highly publicised phone hacking scandal.
A 12-inch papier-mâché globe spins on a gleeming chrome mount, and stands proudly on a turned mahogany base. Remnants of an original label can still been seen attached to the underside of the base.
An evocative relic of yesteryear, it comes in good, sturdy vintage condition with minor areas of paper loss. The globe spins freely on its axes and has a perfect patina!
H46cm (base circumference 26cm)
