There’s very little information available about this unusual model, but it’s Instantly recognisable as a Herbert design with those signature turned drawer handles and slender, arced legs.
A pull-down lockable front (complete with key) opens to reveal a compartmentalised interior with two dovetail-jointed drawers, and a convenient writing surface which is perfect for a laptop.
Produced by British furniture maker A. Younger Ltd in the 1950s-60s, Herbert’s award winning designs echoed the Scandinavian furniture of the same era. He is regarded as one of the most talented British designers of the Mid 20th Century and an early adopter of the Danish style, while A. Younger Ltd produced high-end furniture for some of the most prestigious retailers of the day, including Heal’s of London.
In very good and clean vintage condition with minimal signs of wear, this top quality teak bureau is both beautiful and practical, its slimline design making it an it an ideal WFH solution in a modern living space!
