Description

No veneer here…
Solid oak and treading the line between Deco and Modernism, this brilliantly designed 1930s library table.
Retailed by Waring & Gillow during the 1930s, it’s constructed from beautifully figured golden oak raised on sleek black plinths, and features four stepped shelves of varying heights.

British firm, Waring & Gillow, was a noted firm of furniture makers formed in 1897 by the merger of Gillows of Lancaster and London and Waring of Liverpool
They opened a large store on Oxford street in 1906, and throughout their history secured a number of high profile contracts producing interior fittings for Royal yachts and luxury hotels, including the Carlton, the Waldorf and the Ritz.

This ingenious coffee table is an excellent example of style meets functionality. It’s solidly built and extremely heavy, and comes in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of wear.
