Cabinet fever…
This beautiful British drinks cabinet was produced in the 1950s, but to my eye has some echos of Deco in those streamline curves…
The teak veneered carcass houses two tambour doors which neatly hug the outside of the cabinet and slide open to reveal a spacious lower section and single shelf with brass gallery, to stop your glasses sliding off in all the excitement!
Its curved front contrasts sharply with that angular back and it stands proudly on solid wooden legs, which are capped off with little brass feet.
I’ve had a couple of record cabinets of a similar design but this is the is the first drinks cabinet version I’ve seen.
It comes in good clean vintage condition and does have some signs of wear and minor repair, but I’m just extremely glad it still exists!
Definitely my kind of design, and it’s difficult to imagine a more 20th Century looking piece of furniture.
