A magnetic little sculpture, but no metal here…
This beautiful hardboard maquette was made by revered British Sculptor, Peter Thursby, and has a lovely aged brass appearance.
Produced in the 1990s as a preliminary model for what would eventually become his ‘Optimism’ series, it depicts a sun and moon between trees, or perhaps a child reaching up to a parent.
Labelled and numbered on the base, it’s a rare thing indeed, and an intimate insight into the working processes of the artist.
