This large and spectacular beehive vase is made from dark lacquered wood, but has an almost Bakelite feel to it!
It’s difficult to find other examples of this scarce design but the few similar ones I’ve seen are dated to the 1970s, although I wonder if they may in fact be from the 1920s - 1930s Art Deco era? I’ll let you draw your own conclusions…
The vase comes in two detachable sections which have been skilfully turned on a lathe to achieve this awesome ribbed and geometric form.
I believe it to be watertight but unless you’re using dried flowers you may want to place a liner inside just to be safe! A

In very good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age.
