One of my all time favourite designs from one of my all time favourite designers… a brilliantly toothy John Herbert coat rack.
Produced in the 1960s by quality furniture manufacturer A. Younger Ltd, this iconic, sculptural design features a slatted beech hat rack and a solid afrormosia frame, with four tusk-like coat hooks!
John Herbert is widely regarded as one of Britain’s most talented Mid-20th Century designers and an early adopter of the Danish style, while A. Younger Ltd produced high-end furniture for some of the top retailers of the day, including Heal’s of London.
This fierce piece of 1960s design comes in particularly good condition with minimal signs of age.
