Description
Best of British…
A very handsome Gordon Russell R407 ‘Double Helix’ sideboard!
Designed in 1950 by Judith Ledeboer and David Booth, this iconic design was first exhibited at the Festival of Britain in 1951, before being commercially produced by Gordon Russell throughout the 1950s.
A mahogany and sapele carcass frames two rosewood veneered doors with original brass pulls, and that distinctive routed geometric pattern which exposes the lighter wood type beneath. The clean and spacious interior houses a single shapely shelf and felt-lined drawer.
This classic and important piece of mid-century British design comes in very good, clean vintage condition with only minor signs of wear. It’s clearly been well loved and cherished for the past 70 years, and is ready to last for at least another lifetime.
