This early to mid 20th century articulated dog has the magic to transport you back to a perhaps simpler era when expectations were (clearly) not so high!
These scratch-built wooden dogs were produced as home projects throughout the 19th and early 20th century, and can be found in a variety of styles but often featuring that distinctive square collar. They are now highly collectible and considered little works of folk art.
Lovingly crafted from pine, presumably for a child, this charming example dates from the 1940s – 1950s, is beautifully patinaed all over and has remnants of the original red wood stain to its ears and collar.
Ahh nostalgia…
