Description
This unique and rather severe looking pair of 20th Century armchairs wouldn’t look out of place on the set of a Sci-fi movie…
Reminiscent of the Le Corbusier LC2 Bauhaus era design, the super sharp welded steel frames are paired with angular leather cushions, giving the chairs an awesome, cuboid shape.
The frames are extremely solid and well-made and have a brushed finish, while the original soft black leather is of excellent quality and has been professionally refilled with modern foam. The leather has been cleaned and is nicely worn but with no rips or tears, and retains its original black colour.
They have been professionally filled with quality new foam and are surprisingly comfortable but firm, and although the new foam will ‘break in’ over time, if you are looking for a squishy pair of chairs then these may not be for you!
I believe these chairs were commission-made for a well known clothing retailer in Hampstead, and may be a one-off design. Their highly unusual Brutalist / Modernist design blurs the lines between furniture and art, and they would look equally impressive in a residential or commercial setting.
In very good clean vintage condition with only light wear to the chrome and a few nicks to the leather, but no issues of note.
