Description
A very handsome early 1960s chest of drawers, by Gordon Russell.
Solidly constructed and veneered in Indian Laurel wood, it features three dovetail-jointed drawers and unusual, quadrilateral front legs…
The ball-shaped drawer pulls are cast from ‘Birmabright’ (a rust resistant aluminium alloy), and I can imagine they must have looked pretty modern back the early ‘60s… and are still looking stylish today!
It comes in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of age, and (importantly) lovely clean drawers!

London born Gordon Russell is widely regarded as one of the most important names in British design. His work was influenced by both the Arts & Crafts movement and Modernism.
Russell’s furniture was sold through high-end British retailers such as Heal’s, and there is a design museum in the Cotswolds town of Broadway which celebrates his work.
