The magic button…
My day is made when I open a drawer and see a Heal’s ivorine button winking back at me!

This handsome mahogany sideboard is in fact a 1950s Gordon Russell design, whose company famously made furniture for Heal’s throughout the 20th Century, which was retailed through their iconic department store on Tottenham Court Road, London.

In very good vintage condition with lovely clean interiors, a beautifully felt-lined cutlery section in one drawer, and that much sought after Heal’s button in the other.
The reverse of the sideboard is initialled GR-A, which I believe to be the Gordon Russell factory stamp.

H91.5cm x W122cm D43cm

Very good vintage condition – completely sturdy with smooth running doors and minor signs of wear and discolouration through age.

Free UK mainland delivery included in the price, and viewings welcome by appointment in London SE24.

*London born Gordon Russell is widely regarded as one of the most important names in British furniture design. His work was influenced by both the Arts & Crafts movement and Modernism.
Russell’s furniture was sold through high-end British retailers including Heal’s, and there’s a design museum in the Cotswolds town of Broadway which celebrates his work.
