These scratch-built toys were often produced as home projects or by local crafts people throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, and can be found in a variety of different styles. They are now considered little works of folk art and are highly collectible.
This large example has a an unusual studded and engraved metal collar, while its hinged joints allow the head, ears, legs and tail to move independently!
