A charming hand-painted articulated Dachshund and Siamese cat.
Produced as home projects or by local crafts people throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, this type of scratch-built wooden toy was popular before the era of mass production and comes in a variety of different styles. They are now highly collectible as little works of folk art.
This unlikely duo were acquired from the same home and look to have been made and hand-painted by the same person… and so together they should remain!
Dating from the 1940s – 1950s, they’re rather small but beautifully depicted, and come in lovely vintage condition with just the right amount of wear to their original paintwork.
