Well it looks positively prehistoric but this incredible artwork is actually a ceramic sculpture tile from the 1970s…
Earthy tones on a contrasting hessian backing, the fossilised bird-like form draws you in with a dark and brooding charisma.
Signed and dated 1975 on the back, it’s one of my favourite art pieces I’ve owned and has pride of place on my wall!
I haven’t been able to identify the artist but they clearly knew what they were doing.
H36.5cm x W27.5cm (tile 26.5cm x 17.5cm)
Very good condition with no damage to the tile and only minor wear to the frame.
