What goes around comes around…
One of the first Brian Willsher pieces I owned was this very lamp, and now all these years later it’s found its way back into my life!
These rare lamp sculptures were commissioned by British department store, Heal’s, in the 1960s, and retailed in very limited numbers through their flagship store on Tottenham Court Road, London.
This beautiful mahogany example comes in good vintage condition with only minor wear, and is surely a must have in any Willsher collection.
H36.5cm (25cm to base of brass fitting) x W11cm x D10cm
Unsigned, as with all his Heal’s lamps.
*in working order but the wiring is old so therefore i’m selling this solely as a work of art as opposed to a working lamp.
Free UK delivery included in price, or please get in touch for an international shipping quote.
Viewings welcome in London SE24.
Brian Willsher (1930-2010) was a highly regarded 20th Century sculptor from South London, known for his method of using a bandsaw to create his works.
He enjoyed a string of successful exhibitions in the 1960s, as well as five consecutive Royal Academy of Arts Summer shows.
His work was admired by, among others, artist Henry Moore, and a 2021 exhibition of Willsher’s work in central London has further added to his prestige.
